LOT #3 DAVID G. PARTRIDGE sgd. PAINTING. David Gerry Partridge (USA/Cdn. 1919-2006) Landscape Painting. Signed bottom right “Partridge ‘46”. Oil on Masonite, sight-size 12” x 16”. Partridge was born in Akron Ohio 1919 and died in Toronto 2006. He was a known artist, etcher, sculptor and educator, but best known for his “Abstract Nail Sculptures” known as “Nailies”. LOT #4 KEVIN J. BLANEY sgd. PAINTING. Kevin J. Blaney (Cdn.) Painting of Folk Art Village Landscape. Colourful, naive, folky painting detailed with pastoral views and log cabins at the waters edge. LOT #5 LIONEL LEMOINE FITZGERALD sgd. WATERCOLOUR. Lionel L. Fitzgerald (Cdn. 1890-1956) Still-Life Water-Colour Sketch. Signed bottom left L.L.F. and dated bottom right 9/7/48. Water colour on paper, framed 9” x10”, sight-size 5” x 6”. Fitzgerald was the only member of the “Group of Seven” based in Western Canada and became a member in 1932. He worked and lived almost exclusively in Manitoba as a artist and educator and was a regular RCA exhibitor. VG Condition. Labeled Ex Roberts Art Gallery.
LOT #6 EDWIN H. MATTHEWS. sgd. PAINTING. Edwin Henry Matthews (Cdn. 1924-2014) signed Fall Landscape Painting. Signed Bottom Left. Oil on Canvas, backed by Masonite. Sight size 15” x 19.5”, frame 24” x 28”. Matthews was an acclaimed landscape painter and painting instructor for over 50 years, and OSA member. He apprenticed under A.J. Casson and was the inspiration behind The Buckhorn Wildlife Art Festival. Excellent Condition.
LOT #7 WALTER A. PROCHOWNIK sgd. PAINTING. Walter A. Prochownik (American 1923-2000) Geo-Linear 1960’s Mixed Media Modern Art-Work. Pencil signed on edge of inset sphere. Size: 24”x 33”, sphere 18.5” diameter. Prochownik was a painter and educator, nationally and internationally recognized for his murals, landscapes, portraits, figurative and abstracts. He worked in a wide range of mediums including oil, acrylic, pastel, graphite and mixed media. He lived and worked most of his life in the Buffalo NY community. His art is permanently retained in many Museum, Institutional and Private Collections including Burchfield Penney Art Center, Albright Knox Art Gallery, University of Buffalo, Mississippi Art Association and Southeast Banking Corporation. LOT #10 WILL OGILVIE sgd. WATER COLOUR. William Abernethy Ogilvie (Cdn. 1901-1989) signed large Fall Landscape Water Colour. Sight size 14” x 21”, frame 24” x 31”. Signed bottom right, titled on verso galley label “Road Medonte Township”. Will Ogilvie was a renowned Canadian painter and the first official Canadian war artist. His works were highly esteemed by his contemporaries such as Alex Cilville and Charles Comfort. Studied under Erich Mayer and Kimon Nicoliades in New York. His work is in the collections of the AGO, CWM, EAG, LAG, NGC, he also exhibited with the RCA from 1931-1950. VG Condition. Provenance: Roberts Gallery Toronto.
LOT #11 DENNIS HENRY OSBORNE sgd. PAINTING. Dennis Henry Osborne (Br./Cdn. 1919-2016) Landscape painting with General “Brocks Monument”, signed “D. Osborne ‘57” on lower right. Large, oil on Masonite, sight-size 21” x 29”, frame 28” x36”. The image centers on “Brocks Monument with a foreground of NPC Park Gardens. Exceptional and colourful view of Niagara Heritage! Osborne was born in Portsmouth Hampshire England and emigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in St. Catharines, Ontario. He attended Camberwell School of Arts and Heatherley’s School of Fine Art and taught art in Niagara. Excellent Condition with brilliant colour. Provenance: Collection of Dr. H. Belton.
LOT #12 WILLIAM F. PIPER sgd. PAINTING. William F. Piper (BR. 1903-1992) Seascape Painting with image of Lands End, Cornwall England. Oil on canvas, sight-size 19.5” x 23.5”, framed. Signed by artist in lower left corner. Piper was born and painted much of his life in Cornwall, England. This seascape painting with crashing waves is depicted with expressive brushstrokes that Piper was known for. Painting in Excellent Condition, faults and losses to frame, as per photos. LOT #15 MARY PRITTIE sgd. SKETCH. Mary Prittie signed (Cdn.1908-1999) Mixed Media Sketch of Port Colborne winter scene. Sight size 10.5” x 14.4”, frame 18” x 22”. Mary was born in St. Catharines, lived and painted in Port Colborne for 60 years and a founding member of the Port Colborne Art Club. She studied under Tony Urqhuart and Gordon Perrier. She held membership in OSA and CSPWC. Her work includes landscapes, life, animals, ships, bridges, Welland Canal and florals in different medias. VG Condition. LOT #17 LILY OSMOND ADAMS sgd. PAINTING. L.O. Adams signed (Cdn.1865-1946) Floral Landscape Painting. Scarce, oil on board, sight-size 9” x 11.5”, gilt period frame 12.5” x 15”. L.O. Adams was born in Toronto and studied under Farquhar McGillivary Knowles, Lucius O’Brien and J.W. Beatty. She exhibited at the RCA 1904-1936 and at the OSA from 1903-1920. She specialized in landscapes and florals, primarily in watercolours and pastels with limited works done in oils. VG Condition. As per photos.
LOT #18 EDWIN MATTHEWS sgd. WATERCOLOUR. Edwin Matthews signed (Cdn. 1924-2014) Fall Landscape Watercolour Sketch on paper. Signed bottom right corner, titled on verso “Back In The Woods”. Sight-size 10” x 20”, frame 18” x 25”. Matthews was an acclaimed Canadian landscape painter and painting instructor for over 50 years. He apprenticed under A.J. Casson and was an OSA member. LOT #19 DENNIS GEDEN sgd. PAINTING. Dennis Geden signed (Cdn. b.1944) Abstract Figurative Painting. Signed bottom right “Geden 67″, titled on verso “Whistling Calendar Lady, go figure”. Oil on canvas, size, 24” x 36”. Dennis Geden’s work in portraiture and figure painting since 1970 predates and independently parallels the return of the figure and representational art. As Alex Colville noted, “In the pictorial arts, space is a metaphor for time”, these very issues of spatial relationships inform the art of Dennis Geden! Geden’s art has seen many solo exhibitions throughout Canada, USA and Europe. Condition Good, minor areas of paint loss and crackular, as per photos. LOT #20 T.H. WILKINSON sgd. WATERCOLOUR. Thomas Harrison Wilkinson signed (Br./Cdn. 1847-1929) Landscape Watercolour. Member of the Ontario Society of Artists and regular exhibitor with the RCA. Image of Canadian Rocky Mountain landscape with fishermen. Sight size 13’ X 19”, frame 18” X 24”. Wilkinson is known for his realistic western scenes, forest and mountain landscape painting. LOT #21 ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER INKSTAND. Georgian Period Sterling Silver Inkstand with ribbed cut crystal well. Inkwell is nested in decorative silver tray with scalloped edge and claw feet with engraved details. Makers mark stamped on base of tray for Thomas Harper II, London, 1819. Tray alone weighs 197 grams or 6.33 ozt. Measures 5 3/8” x 7 3/8” Excellent Condition.

Published by Hodder & Stoughton, London. Hard cover, 113 pages. Very Fine Condition, clean, super crisp pages. Bound in cream pictorial cloth with gilt decorations and titles, 10 mounted colour plates each with tissue guard. Title page border is olive. Presentation box has lost 1 flap and has some aging, as per photos.

Billy Dove was an American silent film star born Bertha Bohny, she began her career as a teenager in the Ziegfeld Follies then moved to Hollywood and became one of the most popular actresses in the 1920’s. Condition: The body of the poster is very clean , and strong original colour. The top and left margins are good, bottom left corner has a nip, right margin is rough and will require some repair.
